Stop Data Brokers Selling Your Email
Maya Chen · Privacy Editor, SecureTempMail 6 min read
Data brokers aggregate and sell profiles keyed to your email address. You can't fully erase yourself, but you can make their job much harder.
Cut off the supply
Brokers buy addresses from sites you sign up for. Use a disposable address for non-essential sign-ups so there's nothing consistent to aggregate.
Opt out where you can
Major brokers offer (clunky) opt-out forms. Submit them for the big ones; consider a removal service for scale.
Use unique addresses per service
When every site sees a different address, brokers can't stitch your activity into one profile. Aliases and disposables both achieve this.
Reduce your footprint over time
See reducing your digital footprint for the long game.
