Protecting Kids Online: Email & Sign-Ups
Daniel Okoro · Security Writer, SecureTempMail 6 min read
Kids' games and apps demand emails constantly. Here's how to keep that under control.
Don't use their real (or your real) address
For app trials, game sign-ups, and "register to play" gates, a disposable address avoids years of marketing aimed at a child's identity.
Set a family rule
Any new sign-up goes through a parent, using a throwaway address unless the account truly matters (school, a paid subscription).
Teach the basics early
- Never share codes or passwords.
- Be skeptical of "free prize" pop-ups — see giveaway scams.
- Real companies don't ask for personal details over chat.
Small habits now prevent a big footprint later.
