Protect Your Email From Data Breaches
Daniel Okoro · Security Writer, SecureTempMail 6 min read
Data breaches are a question of when, not if. The goal is containment.
Use throwaway addresses for low-trust sites
If a site you signed up for with a disposable address gets breached, your real identity and primary inbox are untouched.
Never reuse passwords
Breached email + reused password = account takeover everywhere. Unique passwords per site stop the chain — see credential stuffing explained.
Turn on 2FA or passkeys
Even a leaked password is useless without the second factor.
Monitor and rotate
Use a breach-notification service and rotate credentials the moment an address you care about appears in a dump.
